Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan sign several bilateral documents

 

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguli Berdimuhamedov arrived in Uzbekistan with a state visit on 10 March. Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met the high-ranking guest at the Tashkent airport.

During the visit, issues of expansion of Uzbek-Turkmen cooperation, as well as regional and international problems of mutual interest have been discussed. A number of bilateral documents have been signed, aimed at deepening interaction between the two states in various spheres, UzA reported.

The official welcoming ceremony of the head of Turkmenistan was held at the Durmen residence.

At the face-to-face talks, President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov said the visit of the President of Turkmenistan would open new cooperation opportunities.

Gurbanguli Berdimuhamedov said Turkmenistan highly valued cooperation and friendly relations with Uzbekistan.

After the face-to-face talks, the two leaders participated in the expanded negotiations of the official delegations of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan.

Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan signed a number of bilateral documents at the negotiations of the two countries' official delegations.

Presidents Islam Karimov and Gubranguli Berdimuhamedov signed the joint Uzbek-Turkmen communiqué and the protocol on exchange of ratifications of the agreement on strengthening friendly relations between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan, signed in Ashgabat on 18 October 2007.

Other signed documents include intergovernmental agreements on cooperation in government communications and in the agro-industrial complex, as well as the protocol of cooperation between the foreign ministries.
