Uzbekistan and Japan: the new stage of cooperation

 

As before reported, on February 8, this year the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, H.E. Islam Karimov arrived to Tokyo on Official visit at the initiative of Prime minister of Japan H.E. Naoto Kan. The meeting of Uzbek leader with Emperor of Japan, H.I.M. Akihito, Prime minister H.E. Naoto Kan and Foreign minister Seiji Maehara on February 9.   

During the talks parties established coherent development of Uzbek-Japan relations, meeting of approaches and views on many trends of cooperation on both bilateral and multilateral grounds. 

Parties rate highly traditional friendly, steady partnership relations on political, trade and economic, investment, scientific and technological, cultural and humanitarian spheres.  

Meetings and talks proved once again substantial prospects of cooperation on the field of high-end technology, modernization and diversification of economy, where considerable investment potential discovered own realization on number of projects.

Uzbek-Japan and Japan-Uzbek committees on economic cooperation, the regular meeting of which took place on the eve of visit of President Islam Karimov to Tokyo have a great role on enlargement of bilateral contacts. The effects proved once more rising interest of Japanese business communities on investment potential of the Republic of Uzbekistan. 

On the outcomes of talks Islam Karimov and NaotoKan signed Joint statement between the Republic of Uzbekistan and Japan. There were signed Memorandum between foreign ministries of two countries aimed to economic cooperation on implementing of “Official development assistance” (ODA) program and other documents.

The Official visit of President Islam Karimov to Japan is going on.
