President of Uzbekistan receives US Assistant State SecretaryPresident of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov received US Assistant State Secretary for South and Central Asian Affairs Robert Blake on 12 October in Tashkent. Islam Karimov said Uzbekistan and the US had been developing relations in various spheres, which, among others, cover a wide range of issues of international policy. Among them are combating transnational threats and strengthening regional security and stability. The two states cooperate in establishing peace and stability in Afghanistan and the economic renewal of this country. Delivery of non-military and humanitarian cargo to Afghanistan is carried out through the territory of Uzbekistan. Robert Blake said the US administration was interested in further development of mutually beneficial relations with Uzbekistan.
