President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguli Berdimuhamedov arrived in Tashkent on an offical visit on 24 February on the invitation of the President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov.

The Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev welcomed the high-ranking guest at the Tashkent airport.

During the visit, Islam Karimov and Gurbanguli Berdimuhamedov are expected to consider the issues of further expansion of the Uzbek-Turkmen relations, as well as problems of regional and international importance.

Signing of a number of documents aimed at deepening cooperation between the two countries is also planned.
