President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov arrived in Doha with an official visit on 23 November on the invitation of the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani.

Qatar was one of the first Arab states to recognize the independence of Uzbekistan on 30 December 1991. Cooperation with Qatar opens for Uzbekistan new prospects for expansion of ties in trade, economic, political, transport, communication, cultural and humanitarian spheres with the Arab world.

The State of Qatar also considers its relation with Uzbekistan among priority ones, valuing the creative and constructive policy of Uzbekistan on the regional and international level.

The main events of the visit will take place on 24 November. The heads of Uzbekistan and Qatar will discuss expansion of Uzbek-Qatari cooperation, and problems of regional and international character.

At the end of the negotiations, signing of a number of bilateral documents aimed at deepening the bilateral relations of the two countries in various fields is expected.
