Polish delegation visits Supreme Court

 

On 19 September the members of delegation headed by the first Chief Justice of the Republic of Poland Zbigniew Stanislaw Dabrowski met with Chairman of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Uzbekistan Buritosh Mustafayev.

During the negotiations, the sides noted that along with other areas, the cooperation between Uzbekistan and Poland was developing in the judicial system, too.

It was noted that the adoption of President Islam Karimov’s decree in August 2005 “On abolishment of death penalty in Uzbekistan” and “On transferring to courts the right to authorize detention” and the ladder’s entry into force on 1 January of 2008 was highly appreciated by the international community. Guests were thoroughly familiarized with the ideas and initiatives put forward in the report of the head of our state, “The concept of the further deepening of democratic reforms and the development of civil society in the country” at a joint session of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, including the priorities – the democratization of state power and governance, improving the judicial system.

Polish guests praised the wide-ranging reforms to ensure the priority of law and social justice in our country, protecting the rights and lawful interests of citizens, adopt laws, regulations, relevant international standards.

“During the visit we had the opportunity to see the tangible results of reforms on democratization and liberalization of the judicial system, the accomplishment of justice and the assertion of truth,” said Zbigniew Stanislaw Dabrowski. “I would like to emphasize that, despite some differences in the court system of Uzbekistan and Poland, we have a common main objective which serve the interests of the people of the country. I am confident in the great future of Uzbekistan, which has strategic importance in Central Asia.”

During negotiations, the parties discussed the current state and prospects of cooperation between the judicial departments of the two countries to broaden and strengthen ties in the sphere of exchange.

The same day, the Polish delegation visited the Independence Square, got acquainted with work carried out under the leadership of President Islam Karimov and laid a wreath at the Monument of Independence and Humanism, a symbol of freedom, bright future and noble aspirations. The delegation also visited the State Museum of History of Temurids, was familiarized with the exhibits on the life of Amir Temur and his dynasty.
