The National bank of Uzbekistan (NBU) and Japanese Sumimoto Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) has been signed Memorandum of mutual understanding.

The signing of document took place during 10^th session of the Committee on development of economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and Japan, which hold on February 8 inTokyo. 

The document aimed to develop mutually beneficial partnership between two financial institutions and define actual trends of joint cooperation between organizations. 

Particularly, cooperation between NBU and   Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation on the field of trade financing on bargains, carried out between Uzbek and Japanese companies.

Another trend within the framework of memorandum is encouragement of business opportunities of Uzbek and Japanese companies in “Navoi” free industrial economic zone, as well as possible financing of SMBC projects totally worth up 100 million USD.   

Encouraging and organizing of participation of interested SMBC investor-clients on implementing of projects of NBU and its subsidiary investment companies NBU Invest Group and NBU Investment will be more significant sphere of cooperation.      

Within the cooperation of NBU and SMBC on business and financial areas the emphasis will be focused to projects aimed to improve ecology, reduce hothouse gases emission and steady development of Uzbekistan.

The parties are also reached agreement on viewing issue of development cooperation on clearing operations on Japanese yens and  payment business.
