Human trafficking issues consideredTrafficking in humans has become one of the global problems. In Uzbekistan, like in other countries, wide-scale measures are being taken to prevent cases of human trafficking and provide social and legal support to its victims. Fighting human trafficking, which is a transnational crime, is one of the most important tasks of the state bodies and NGOs, the participants of the seminar in Ferghana stated. Organized by the Republican interdepartmental commission on counteracting human trafficking jointly with Mahalla fund and Ferghana regional administration, the event gathered vice mayors of the region’s cities and districts, chairpersons of the women’s committees, members of Kamolot youth movement and others. The forum attendees called for joining efforts of all responsible bodies in fight against human trafficking and expanding awareness raising activities among the population. On 17 April 2008, Uzbekistan adopted a law on counteracting human trafficking, which became the basis of all related activities in the country. In July of the same year, President signed a resolution on increasing the efficiency of human trafficking combating activities. UzA.uz 14.12.2010 10:13
