GM Uzbekistan, a joint venture of US automaker General Motors (GM) and Uzbek automaker Uzavtosanoat, plans to build a USD 37.3 million press shop in 2009-2010.

The project is expected to be implemented in two stages. By the end of 2009, the company plans to build a USD 27.3 million workshop with an annual production capacity of 1.37 million vehicle body panels. In 2010, the company plans to install a USD 10 million production line at the workshop with an annual capacity of 1 million panels.

The new facility will increase the company's annual production of vehicle body panels from current 7.3 million units to 9.7 million units.

GM Uzbekistan plans to finance the project with its own funds.
