First Russian National Exhibition opens in Tashkent

The First Russian National Exhibition has opened today at UzExpoCentre. The event was organized by the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of the Russian Federation and the Chamber of Industry and Commerce of Russia.

The theme of the exhibition is "Russia and Uzbekistan: strategic partnership". This is the largest of all national exhibitions ever conducted in Uzbekistan. Its total area exceeds 4,000 square meters.

First Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Sergey Ivanov and Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoev, who are the co-chairmen of the Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Uzbekistan, participated in the opening ceremony. The meeting of the commission will be conducted in Tashkent on one of the days of the exhibition.

In his opening speech, Sergey Ivanov said that Uzbekistan had been and remains one of the Russia's strategic partners in Central Asia.

According to the volume of bilateral trade, Uzbekistan is Russia's fourth largest partner. Russia, in turn accounts for 29.2%, almost a third of Uzbekistan's total foreign trade. Shavkat Mirziyoev said the parties were intending to increase the trade turnover volume to US billion in the shortest future.

The aim of the exhibition is to assist the development of trade and economic, as well as investment cooperation between the countries, to stimulate the innovation activity, to promote the export of Russian products to the market of Uzbekistan, to strengthen business and cultural contacts between the two states, and to provide an opportunity for the establishment of cooperation between the representatives of cultural, scientific, educational, and creative spheres of both countries.

The thematic sections of the exhibition are: innovative and investment projects in power industry, machine engineering, aviation and space, and other science-intensive spheres; equipment for the processing of fuel-energy and raw resources; agro-industrial complex (agricultural technology and parts); metallurgy; chemical and petrochemical industries; timber industry; light industry, transportation (automobile; aviation, railroad); information and communication technology; cooperation in liquidation of the outcomes of emergency situations of natural and man-caused nature; healthcare, medicine, labour protection; technology and equipment for small business.
