Austrian Entrepreneurs To Extend Ties With Uzbek BusinessesOver 30 leading companies from Austria will take part at the trade and economic mission in Tashkent, Uzbekistan National News Agency Russian-language website reported March 25 this year. The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan and commercial department of the Austrian Embassy in Tashkent are organizing the event. The goal of the meeting is to establish business contacts between Austrian and potential Uzbek partners for further mutual cooperation. Such large Austrian companies as the Austria PUMA Dassler, the leading producer of the sports-ware, Norbert Schaller GMBH – operating on the production equipments to process meat, poultry, fishes and cheese packaging, SIEMENS VAI Metals Technologies – the largest producer of domain and electric ovens, and other are expected to participate at the event. According to the Uzbek Ministry for Foreign Economic Relations, Investments and Trade, 30 enterprises are now operating in Uzbekistan, with the participation of the Austrian capital and seven among them with 100 percent Austrian investments. On the outcomes of last year the trade between the two countries made up over USD mln. In accordance with the agreement “On bilateral foreign and economic cooperation” the most favoring regime has been established in the bilateral trade between Uzbekistan and Austria. The agreement has been signed in December 2001 during the official visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov to Austria. 29.03.2007 09:10
