Uzavtosanoat is the shareholder of 42 enterprises, operating in field of production, sales, maintenance and finance. Uzavtosanoat operates as holding company and includes enterprises: of automotive production, such as GM-Uzbekistan, SamAuto, JV MANAuto-Uzbekistan, JV MercedesBenz-Central Asia; of production of components and spare parts, such as JV GMPowerTrain-Uzbekistan (producing engines) and 15 main suppliers of auto-components; enterprises on selling and servicing, leasing company which provides financing of sales of commercial vehicles and educational institutions. GeneralMotors – Uzbekistan is one of the largest enterprises of the company specialized on production of passenger cars. It’s a Joint Venture with the 75% share of Uzavtosanoat and 25% share of General Motors. The enterprise was established on the base of the Joint Stock Company UzDaewooAuto with the launch of commercial production in 1996. In March 2008, General Motors bought 25% shares, and, this provided access to global systems and products of this company. The JV is located in Asaka town of Andijon province and occupies the area of 720,000 square m. Total number of staff today exceeds 7,000 people. General Motors Uzbekistan is the vertically integrated production, which includes pressing, welding, coloring and assembling capacities. The product line of this JV is 7 models of passenger cars including Chevrolet Spark newly launched in 2010. In 2012, it’s intended to launch production of Nexia-GSVEM with annual production capacity of 100,000 units. In 2010, production of GM-Uzbekistan constituted 217,700 passenger cars, out of which 40 % were exported. Samarqand automotive plant SamAuto is the enterprise on production of midi-buses and trucks. It’s a JV with the Japanese ITOCHU Corporation. Products are manufactured on the base of chassis of ISUZU. It’s also vertically integrated production, providing high level of localization and sufficient number of technological operations.
In 2009, Uzavtosanoat established the joint venture MANAuto-Uzbekistan on production of heavy trucks. Located in Samarqand, the JV has enormous perspectives in the context of rapid increase of cargo transportation in this region. Uzavtosanoat intends to further expand this area of business in order to become one of the leaders in production of heavy trucks in CIS. In 2010, Uzavtosanoat established the joint venture MB-Central Asia together with German Group Daimler on production of larger capacity buses on the base of chassis of Mercedes Benz. On the initiative of Uzavtosanoat in 2009, there was established branch of the Torino Polytechnic University in Tashkent. The University has capacity to admit 1,200 students on the following majors: technology of mechanical engineering, automotive engineering, energy, industrial and civil construction engineering, architectural and industrial design, IT and Automatic Control Systems in the industry. On 23 February, 2010 Tashkent Tractor Plant, CLAAS Group and the Company CLAAS- Central AsiaInvestmentGmbH (Germany) entered into contract on establishment of joint venture Uz-CLAASAgro in the form of Limited Liability Company with the charter capital of Euro 1 million. The share of Tashkent Tractor Plant in the JV is 51%, share of CLAAS-CentralAsiaInvestmentGmbH – 49%. With aim at promotion of products on the market of Uzbekistan, Uz-CLAASAgro in the second half of 2011, intends to establish daughter service company Uz-CLAASService for post-sales servicing of the machines with service centers in all provinces of the country. Initial capacity of the company will be about 500 units of agricultural machines p.a., including 200 units of universal tractors, 170 units of combine harvester, as well as other supporting machinery. |
