New gas chemical complex to be constructed in Kandym deposit

The “Uzbekneftegas” National Holding Company and Russia’s LUKOIL plan to construct a modern gas chemical complex having annual capacity of 8 billion cubic meters of gas in Kandym group of gas fields.

The Hauzak-Shady-Kandym-Kungrad project is implemented in the framework of the signed agreement of production division by Uzbekistan and the investors’ consortium of LUKOIL OSC in June 2004.

Within the implementation of the project the parties planned to construct and launch by 2011 a gas chemical complex with the annual production capacity of 8 billion cubic meters of gas in Kandym group of deposits.

The plant is to produce three kinds of production: natural gas, condensed gas and sulfur. According to the agreement the natural gas will go for exportation, the condensed gas is to be processed at the petroleum refineries of Uzbekistan, the sulfur is also to be sold within the Republic: chemical factories, agricultural producers and so on.

In late 2007 the companies launched the Hauzak gas field having 3 billion cubic meters of annual gas production capacity. Today the invested means have made up USD 500 million. The Shady and Kandym groups are under development. The geological survey in Kungrad of Ustyurt region is expected to discover huge reserves of carbohydrates.

The work over the project implies the world’s most up-to-date technologies of gas reserves development, creation of new job-places in gas and relevant industries as well as programs for training and retraining of personnel.
