National Bank of Uzbekistan for Foreign Economic Activity and China Eximbank have agreed on the financing of the "Andijan Hydroelectric Power Plant-2", a project on the delivery of the European type plants and other equipment for the total amount of US.03 million.
"The potential of the Kampiravat storage pool attracts the attention of foreign investors," said the Head of the SMAOOT-2 general contractor, Iminjon Holmatov. "Not all reserves of the Karadarya reservoir are being used. There is a potential for the construction of a whole cascade of mini-electric power stations at low cost to generate inexpensive energy," Pravda Vostoka quoted Holmatov.
After Andijan Hydroelectric Power Plant, "Andijan HPP – 2" will be the second largest energy block producing 140,000 kilowatt of electric power hourly. The construction of the new object was launched in July last year in accordance with the governmental resolution.
Now the best construction companies of Uzbekistan are working here, applying the techniques learned from the experience of foreign specialists. Important success factors are three-shift work schedule, timely delivery of cement, dynamic performance of mechanisms. By the end of Fall we will have installed the equipment, which is being delivered with the assistance of our Chinese colleagues. The total cost of the energy block with he power capacity of 50 Megawatt exceeds 14 billion soums.
Commenting on the business cooperation with the Chinese partner, Iminjon Holmatov said that after the launch of the Andijan HPP-2, it is planned to set up two more mini-electric power stations on the base of Shahristansay. According to the plans of hydropower plant constructor, the water of the Big Ferghana Canal will also serve as a source of cheap energy production. A network of such mini-stations will fully satisfy the demand for electric power of the agrarian sector of the Golden valley and provide highly paid jobs to over 500 residents of the rural area.
